Wagoner County GOP June 2020 Candidates & Monthly Meeting

Wagoner County Republican Party Newsletter

VOTE NO on SQ802.

The June 30 primary election ballot includes a vote on State Question 802, an Oklahoma Medicare expansion bill.  The Wagoner County Republican Party Executive Committee unanimously opposes this State Question and encourages all voters to turn out in large numbers and VOTE NO on this SQ802.

  • If approved, this mandate would be added to the Oklahoma State Constitution, taking it out of the hands of the governor and legislature to administrate, control or change.
  • If this question passes, Oklahoma would be obligated to provide medical assistance to adults at or below 138% of the federal poverty level regardless of whether the US Congress continues to pay a large portion of the costs. Congress would dictate how much money actually leaves Oklahoma’s treasury. Moreover, federal bureaucrats set the federal poverty level, which would determine Medicaid eligibility. The Oklahoma Legislature would merely be a conduit to finance the federal government’s policy decisions. This is unconstitutional.
  • A spokeswoman for Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt (R) said, "If SQ802 passes, our state agencies will experience deep cuts, because the ballot measure offers no mechanism to pay for it. The governor does not support this unfunded mandate."

Please not that a low voter turnout is expected, and it is critical that all Republicans get out and vote Tuesday, June 30th to keep this measure from passing.

Next Meeting Scheduled for Thursday, June 11, 2020

7:00 pm

Guest Speakers will be invited 2020 Republican Primary Candidates

The actual meeting will be outside in the east parking lot.

Normally we would have a candidate forum and fundraiser for our June monthly meeting.  However due to the COVID-19 issue the Executive Committee has decided to change the meeting to just allow each candidate that is invited to speak for 10 minutes.  We will be providing hot dogs and water (donations accepted).  The food will start being served at 6:30 pm.  We will also be meeting outside in the parking lot east of the building (please see map below).  So bring your lawn chairs and let's each enjoy each other's company once again.  Outside masks are optional.  And this meeting is subject to weather permitting.  If it rains it will be cancelled.

One restriction is that if you have to use the bathroom in the church you will be required to use a mask and be subject to a temperature check. The main building will be closed (we’ll use the youth building restrooms).

The following Republican Party Candidates who completed the Candidate Information Committee process and received a passing vote have been invited to speak at this meeting:

  • Neil Mavis - Candidate for U.S. Senate
  • Justin Dine - Candidate for State Rep. District 12
  • Chris Elliott (Incumbent) - Candidate for County Sheriff
  • Kyle Johnson - Candidate for County Sheriff
